Valerie is passionate about making documentaries that inspire us to change the way we live. She contributed writing and research to two films aired on PBS and designed to bring young people into the dialogue about public policy. PowerShift focusses on the global energy grid and is narrated by Cameron Diaz. Nourish tells the story of our food from soil to plate, featuring Michael Pollan and Alice Waters. Both films were directed and produced by Kirk Bergstrom of Worldlink Productions in San Francisco.

Valerie has also worked in front of the camera, interviewing author Thomas Moore, author of Care of the Soul, about slowing down in order to make room for the imagination and the inner life. She was a commentator as well on A Still Small Voice, an award-winning PBS film narrated by Bill Kurtis, about the rise of mystical experiences in ordinary life.
